& RACHEL awarded ICMA 2012 Prize!:
feb. 2012 - The jury of the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) decided to award the concerto prize to Rachel Kolly d’Alba for her CD “French Impressions” released on the worldwide Warner Classics label.
Rachel Kolly D’Alba was one of 215 nominees from Classical music and recording reviews. The CD which won the award included collaboration between Rachel and the Orchestra de Bienne with conductor Jean-Jacques Kantorow as well as the Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire conducted by John Axelrod.
The list of ICMA 2012 prize winners was revealed on 20 February by ICMA president Rémy Franck. The awards will be made on 15 May in Nantes followed by a gala concert broadcast by France Musique and Euroradio. The 2011 ICMA award event was in Tampere, Finland. The 8th awards ceremony in 2012 is one of the most important events celebrating recordings of Classical music.
Among other appearances she will perform as soloist in Milan later in February and has been invited to play in London’s Cadogan Hall in May 2012 and in Japan with the NHK orchestra in July 2012.
